Every small farm can become a foundation for a brighter future.
For many vulnerable families in rural Bangladesh, securing a stable income and providing nutritious food for their households remains a daily challenge. Limited employment opportunities and financial resources often leave families struggling to meet their basic needs and build a secure future.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable livelihoods and household food security, Sunbulah Welfare Association (SWA), Bangladesh, has introduced the “Feathers of Prosperity” initiative, with generous financial support from donors in the United Arab Emirates. Through this project, SWA provides disadvantaged families with the resources and knowledge needed to establish small-scale poultry farms.
Selected beneficiary families receive chicks, poultry feed, and basic training in poultry care and farm management. This initial support enables families to start their own small poultry operations and gradually develop them into a sustainable source of food and income.
The project provides families with the opportunity to produce eggs and poultry meat for their own consumption, helping improve household nutrition and food security. At the same time, surplus eggs, poultry, and other products can be sold in local markets, creating an additional source of income for the family.
Beyond immediate financial support, the project encourages self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and responsible household income generation. As families gain experience in poultry farming, they can expand their operations, increase production, and strengthen their economic resilience.
The benefits extend across the entire household. Increased income can help families meet essential expenses such as food, children's education, healthcare, and other daily necessities, while access to poultry products contributes to a more balanced and nutritious diet.
Through the Feathers of Prosperity initiative, SWA is helping vulnerable families turn a small opportunity into a sustainable livelihood. With the generous support of UAE donors and well-wishers, these modest poultry farms are becoming sources of food, income, independence, and hope, contributing to stronger and more resilient rural communities.
